Job Description

  • Monitor the public and media’s opinion of 7de Laan
  • Generating exciting press releases out to the media bi-weekly and or as and when required
  • Prepare and send teasers on the fourth week of each month
  • Generate and pitch interesting story ideas to the media
  • Organize and coordinate interviews and photo shoot for print, radio and television
  • Provide appropriate pictures, screen grabs, video clips and any other information for the media
  • Update the website and social media platform with teasers, images, video clips, features and interesting titbits
  • Update the publicity database and archives
  • Liaise with viewers on all platforms
  • Manage Social Media – reply fan mail, posting, monitoring and replying to fans across all platforms including e-mail, snail mail, website
  • Handle queries, bookings and organizing appearances for 7de Laan Actors
  • Plan and co-ordinate external events for the brand
  • Attend events with Actors where necessary
  • Plan and coordinate internal events
  • Arrange and represent the company at events such as press launches, conferences, exhibitions, open days and sponsorships
  • Initiating company events
  • Coming up with original ideas for Company events
  • Search for venues, contacts and supplies
  • Hiring and supervising contractors such as caterers
  • Ensure that health, safety and insurance regulations are followed


  • Diploma/Degree in Public Relations / Journalism / Events Management or media related qualification
  • At least 2 years public relations experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Internet
  • Excellent communications (both written and verbal), interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans
  • Project management, organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to create and maintain new relations
  • High levels of attention to detail, initiative and creative
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Resilience, to cope if your ideas are turned down or criticized
  • Good negotiation, budget awareness and marketing skills
  • Enthusiasm, self-starter, motivation and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, and with diplomacy and sensitivity, with all members of the production team, and with Actors, other contributors, and members of the public
