SA Fashion Week Dragged For The Lack Of Black Representatives In Their New Talent Search Panel of Judges

SA Fashion Week Dragged For The Lack Of Black Representatives In Their New Talent Search Panel of Judges. The SA Fashion Week New Talent Search was established in 1998, with the aim to recognize, nurture, and grow star talent in the country. The initiative has given over 160 young designers the opportunity to enter the retail market.

The competition is open again this year, and the winner will receive market opportunities and business support valued at R 45 500. The judging for the 2021 SA Fashion Week, New Talent Search took place on the 21st January, by seven industry leaders.

As much as competitions of these sort are exciting, many South Africans are not happy that there is no single black judge in the panel. The likes of Kuli Roberts, Blue Mbombo, Thick Leeyoce, Nokuthula Mavuso took to Twitter to express their disappointments over the lack of black judges on the panel.
