Sad Note! eNCA’s Karima Brown Dies From COVID-19. Covid-19 continues to claim the lives of many people on a daily basis. The latest public figure who succumbed to the virus is Karima Brown. The journalist and broadcaster died of COVID-19 on Thursday. According to reports, Brown had been admitted to hospital last month where she was receiving treatment for the virus.

She held many senior positions in the South African media industry, including executive editor for the Independent Group and political editor at Business Day. Brown anchored eNCA’s weekly show ‘The Fix’ and was a regular political analyst on the channel. She was a former 702 talk show host and also hosted a show on CNBC Africa.

Brown’s family released a statement, saying she will be laid to rest in a private burial ceremony.

We are enormously proud of the fierce determination she had shown, since her early years, to get involved in bringing about a more just, inclusive, and anti-racist South Africa.A small number of invited persons will attend the funeral and all COVID-19 regulations will be observed,” the statement read.

The likes of Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, former DA Leader Mmusi Maimane, former Public Protector and Thuli Madonsela, journalist and media personality Redi Tlhabi took to Twitter to remember Brown with heartfelt tributes. We send our sincere condolences to her family.

As of Wednesday 04 March 2021, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded was 1 516 262 the total number of deaths was 50 366 the total number of recoveries was 1 434 772 and the total number of vaccines administered wass 83 570.
