Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohnayne Is Officially A Free Man!

Jub Jub and his friend, Themba Tshabalala have served half of their 8-year jail sentences and are eligible for parole and an early release next year. The pair were jailed for crashing their cars into a group of school kids in 2012. According to Sunday World, Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed the award winning musician will be considered for parole in December 2015.

In December 2016, the news of Jub Jub possibly spending the New Year with his son, made headlines after the Department of Correctional Services held a meeting in November to consider taking a decision on releasing Jub Jub on parole on 5 January 2017.

According to a recent statement released by the Department of Correctional Services, their decision to release the accused has been officially confirmed. Jub Jub will be a free man from today alongside his co-accused Themba Shabalala.

The statement read:

“The Department of Correctional Services can confirm the parole placement of Katlego Molemo Maarohanye and Themba Shabalala as approved by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards (CSPBs) of Leeuwkop and Baviaanspoort with effect from 5 January 2017.” Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said in a statement.

Jub Jub and Themba Shabalala were arrested in 2010 after the cars they were drag-racing in, ploughed into a group of school children. Four boys passed away from the incident whilst two were left permanently brain damaged.
