Tragedy Hits Rhythm City Again As Their Former Actress Mary Makgatho Passes On

On yet another sad note, Rhythm City former actress Mary Makgatho died this morning. The veteran actress lost the battle after spending weeks in hospital. Mary was admitted into high care on July 10 after injuring herself following a fall last month.

Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa announced her death and sent his condolences to Makgatho’s loved ones. “I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of veteran Actress and my dear friend, Mary Makgatho, who has sadly passed on,” he said.

Many viewers will remember Mme Mary Makgatho from her recent stint on Ga Re Dumele but her career spans decades in this industry. She has played Connie on Rhythm City, has also acted on Generations and Yizo-Yizo. Mary has also done numerous radio and TV adverts and voice overs, as well as dramas when SABC had the monopoly on the small screen.
