Compass Group: Skills Development & Finance Administrator Opportunity

Responsible to execute financial administrative tasks and process skills development data within and for the Performance & Development department

Education and experience required

  • 2 years previous experience in an administrative financial or equivalent role
  • Finance related Diploma/Degree
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Must have experience with drafting and maintaining budgets
  • Knowledge of Credit Management, Credit Bureau, Credit Act and Companies Act preferred
  • Knowledge of Skills Development, SETA and stipends preferred
  • Excellent MS Office skills – Excel non negotiable
  • Must have worked on an accounting package

Key areas of responsibilities:

  • Key responsibility is to manage financial administration for stakeholders on an ongoing basis, ensure that an accurate reconciliation is executed on each project, and be a custodian of the skills development process.
  • Maintain budgets for each project and provide feedback to project owner
  • Assist with salary confirmations for learnerships at Compass
  • Allocate and collate costings for expenses to correct accounts
  • Support P&D Manager with regards to financial accuracy and data integrity
  • Compare daily receivables to bank statement and escalate any discrepancies to Manager and/or Internal Audit
  • Complete month-end procedures:
  • Receive all financial data from relevant stakeholders
  • Identify missing data and take required steps to resolve or raise accruals if unable to do so in the stipulated month-end timelines with reversals in the next period
  • Finalising stakeholder billing with confirmation from Manager
  • Issue project specific General Ledger Reports to the Manager
  • Obtain sign-off in writing from the Manager
    • Assist Finance Business Partner with reconciliation of GL accounts and raise any issues identified e.g. provisions, accruals
    • Collate and store data related to skills development
    • Provide Stakeholders with related skills development information
    • Contribute to the improvement of systems and procedures related to processing skills development data
    • Adhoc reporting
      • Maintaining filing systems for all records
      • Analyse data from Excel
      • Manage the skills database
      • Administer purchasing and procurement information

General:

  • At critical times, overtime work may be required to ensure month end timelines are met
  • Teamwork is essential and working together with fellow colleagues in your department is required of you
  • Must be able to effectively function within a pressurised and fast paced environment
