“My Grandmother Was The First Female Millionaire In Mthatha”- Moneoa Opens Up About Her Upbringing

Pop singer and actress, Moneoa Moshesh has recently revealed on Cliff Central that her grandmother became a millionaire just by selling amagwinya (Vetkoeks). Even though her grandmother was rich, she however painted her upbringing as not so rosy but yet positive part of her life.

“My grandmother was the first female millionaire in Mthatha. She ran a lot of businesses and made her first million in 1976” said Moneoa. She further added that the money was finished quickly simply because her family did not know to manage it. “Within five to six years, everything was gone” Moneoa said

Moneoa grew up in an environment where people were narrow minded, so to say. They basically didn’t believe in dreaming beyond general popular careers. Having that said, they actually didn’t have faith in the singer’s dreams. But look at her now. She is bawling and living her life! “In my mind, I still knew that I would become a singer, an actress and a dancer, but I didn’t think I believed it until it happened” she said.
