Sam Smith Wins Big At the 57th Annual Grammys

This morning saw all the who’s who and biggest names in the music industry come together to celebrate music geniuses at the 57th Grammy awards. The Grammy’s are the most respected and most celebrated music awards in the world so it’s no surprise stars pulled all the stops on the red carpet and on stage. It also saw the British newcomer Sam Smith winning big following in the footsteps of another Brit Adele who was on everyone’s lips two years ago.

Here are some of the big winners of the night.
Sam Smith was the ultimate winner of the night taking home the Grammys for New Artist, record of the year for “Stay with me”, Song of the year for the same number one hit “Stay with me” and best pop vocal album for “In the lonely hour”. Sam Smith later performed the winning song of the night “Stay with me” alongside Mary J Blige.

Beyonce` also won big as she took home the award for best R&B song for “drunk in love”, best R&B performance for the smash hit “drunk in love” and for best surround sound album for her self titled album “beyonce”. Queen Bey also took to the stage to with a completely different performance than she did last year; she delivered an emotional performance of “Take My Hand Precious Lord” dressed in an angelic white dress.

Pharrell took home best pop solo performance for his hit “Happy” and the same song also won best video award. Best pop duo/Group performance went to one of the biggest hits of 2014 “Say Something” from A Great Big World &Christina Aguilera.

Surprisingly Kendrick Lamar dominated the hip hop category when he won best rap song for “T” and best rap performance for the same song. Eminem and Rihanna took home best rap/sung collaboration for the hit “The Monster” and Eminem also took the award for best rap album for “The Marshal Mathers LP2.

Oh what would music news without mentioning our beloved Kanye?! Kanye took the stage with Sir Paul and Rihanna to perform her latest single “fourfiveseconds” form her new album and in Kanye style he stormed on stage after Beyonce lost the album of the year at least this time it was for fun.
