SA Government Addresses Alcohol Ban Rumors. On the 27th of March 2020, the South African government, imposed an alcohol sale ban, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The ban was lifted on the 1st of June, and later reimposed on the 12th of July. The government, later announced that the ban will come to an end on the 17th of August.

Unfortunately, Covid-19 statistics are still growing at an alarming rate. Many fear that we might experience a second Covid-19 wave before the end of the year. Some though, continue to live their lives as if nothing is happening. Less people are seen wearing masks in public spaces, a lot of mass gatherings continue to take place. Could alcohol be one of the problems that have made us relax?

Many have called for the alcohol sale ban once again, more so since we approach the festive season. The government though, has nothing to do with the alcohol ban discussion.The government was quick to deny the the circulating news, that President Cyril Ramaphosa is going to address the alcohol sale ban. The news has been regarded as fake!
