1. 27 year old Sasha-Lee Laurel Olivier became popular as one of the first plus-sized contestants to take part in the Miss SA pageant.

2. She was crowned the first runner-up of the Miss SA 2019 pageant and also became Miss World South Africa.

3. As such the curvaceous beauty went on to represent SAA at the Miss World pageant in December, making it into the top 40 of the prestigious pageant.

4. On January 20 2020, Sasha-Lee who is a marketing and psychology student at Wits University was crowned Miss South Africa 2019.

5. Sash-Lee assumed the mantle from title holder, Zozibini Tunzi, who was crowned Miss Universe in December 2019.

6. Just like many women in South Africa, the beauty queen is a rape survivor. Sasha-Lee was sexually abused by a close relative between the ages of seven and 11.

7. Sasha-Lee uses her platform to send a message to victims of sexual abuse. Her ‘Its Not Your Fault’ campaign, distributes rape comfort packs to those who have survived rape or sexual assault.

8. She is inspired by women of tenacity, women who have faced adversity and succeeded in spite of it, like Oprah Winfrey and South African born Hollywood actress, Charlize Theron.

9. Sasha-Lee is a hard-core BeyoncĂ© fan. On the Miss SA website, she also says that you’ll find tracks by Shekhinah, Nasty C and Coldplay on her playlists.
