Thuli Thabethe Takes Over the Role of the Late Busi Lurayi on Scandal! On Sunday the 10th of July, we lost one of our most talented actresses. At the tender age of 35, Busisiwe Lurayi passed away leaving family, friends, fans, colleagues and the entire nation mourning.

At the time of her passing, the How To Ruin Christmas star was already cast on another production. According to Netflix her character as Tumi Sello was wrapped up o season II of the hit series. Immediately after that, it was revealed that Busi bagged a role on Scandal! where shooting had already began. She was cast to play the character of Me’Shell who features as a long-time friend of Layla Mckenzie. Me’Shell will make her much anticipated debut on the 2nd of September.

Sadly Busi, passed away before we could all see the magic she was cooking. As they say in the entertainment industry, the show must go on regardless. Scandal! has continued with the Me’Shell character and another actress will take over from where Busi left off. Thuli Thabethe has stepped in to take over Me’Shell’s remaining scenes which will be seen later in September.

One cool factor is that Busi and Thuli both appeared in other productions including the SABC1 sitcom City Ses’la where Thuli also took over the role of Phumzile when Busi left. Thuli was also at Busi’s funeral where she paid her a touching tribute.
