Veteran Actor Bongani Gumede Graduates from Wits University. You are never too old to get an education. This is because education is one of the most powerful tools that one, despite their accomplishments can arm themselves with. We have seen this with the likes of Oskido, Black Coffee, Pearl Thusi, Brian Habana, Siyabonga Nomvete to mention just a few.

Another one of our personalities who decided to level up their academics is Bongani Gumede. The veteran actor just graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts on Monday afternoon from Wits University. He joins the likes of Botlhale Boikanyo, Mbulelo Katiso and Innocent Sadiki who graduated this year.

In a short video clip shared on Wits’ social media platform, Gumede reminded South Africans of the importance of education.

As long as you are alive, you should study. There’s no time to waste. My understanding is that talent alone is not enough. That’s why I decided to study. Now am going to apply theory on my talent….Talent should be coupled with education“, said the former Isibaya actor.

Gumede is has been in the industry for years, and is best known for his roles on E.TV’s soap opera Rhythm City as Ngozi Masemola. Many also know him as Mandla Ndlovu on IsiBaya, where he acted alongside renowned actors such as Bheki Mkhwane, Gcina Mkhize, Nomzamo Mbatha, Ayanda Ngubane and Andile Mxakaza.

The star who started acting as hobby, has really turned his life around. According to reports, there were some challenges that he faced when fame presented itself. Gumede had alcoholism and drug addiction which caused hiccups in his career. It is a great thing that he is now doing very well, and bagged a qualification.
