Track and field sprinter Wayde van Niekerk was never ready for the responses he got when he made an innocent remark about Rugby. “Pretty excited for the 7ns Rugby,” he said. Well, a lot of people advised him to stay away from rugby until he is fully recovered.
Wayne injured his knee two months back in a celebrity rugby match. The Olympic and world 400-metre champion and world record-holder has cut short his honeymoon after getting married two days ago so that he can have surgery in the United States. Among the events Van Niekerk will miss is the Commonwealth Games on the Australian Gold Coast next April.
