DJ Sbu Takes MoFaya To The Streets Of Soweto

By Lindelwa Godie

It came as no surprise that Sbusiso Leope, well known as DJ Sbu was amongst hundreds of people at the 2017 ANC birthday celebrations rally that was held at the Orlando Stadium on the 8th of January. DJ Sbu hit the streets of Soweto on Sunday to promote his MoFaya energy drink.

He took a video of himself handing out cans of his energy drink to passing motorists who were also attending the 2017 ANC birthday rally. The Indlela Yam hitmaker disclosed and opened up about breaking boundaries and not accepting fear to stand in your way. “The hustle is real my brothers and sisters. Entrepreneurship knows no boundaries. Entrepreneur knows no ego” he said

Last year, the controversial musician, DJ Sbu posted a number of pictures of himself and top ANC officials holding, some drinking the MoFaya energy drink. That raised eyebrows. Social media agitated garnered mixed reactions and accused DJ Sbu of highjacking the 2016 ANC birthday celebration rally. Some people applauded his marketing ability, but some suspected foul play and wanted clearance. He however broke down the criticism and declared that he had been invited to market the drink at the celebration.

DJ Sbu further added that when you have a brand and you don’t have a marketing budget, which he doesn’t, you sit down as a team and look at all the important and prominent events that are or will be happening in the country. “We want to see ourselves at those events, I take advantage of either: I get a booking or I pull my team along and we go on and activate the place” he explained.

Sbu also explained that when it comes to his drink, it’s business. “When you are a growing brand, you never lose”. It is believed that ANC doesn’t really fund the MoFaya energy drink inventor and it never has. So he says. Last year the Honourable President himself was also seen posing for a picture with the drink. Clearly DJ Sbu never misses an opportunity to promote his energy drink.
