Job description
Reporting to the eNCA news director
Your key performance areas will include:
- Follow up leads, confirm reports and update developing stories
- Check the quality of the visuals and scripts before broadcast
- Check the wire services and news feeds for the day’s news/breaking news
- Liaise with the news editor, output team, archives and video editors
- Set up guests for the bulletins
- Write local and international stories
- Write and update crawlers
- Assist in crafting intros and cues for reports/packages
Requirements
- Journalism degree or diploma
- Excellent command of the English language
- At least three years journalism or related experience.
- Excellent writing skills
- Good general knowledge, editorial judgement and interpretational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a team and take instruction
Note: The successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
