List of Nominees For The 2016 “BET Awards”

Last year, as in previous years, the Best International Act: Africa was presented at 10am at a closed ceremony that was not broadcast on the Sunday. This was hours ahead of the main show, which took place on the same day at the Staples Center. In 2011 the Awards expanded to Africa , with a joint award given to two African acts. It has since been reduced to a single winner.

DURA EUROPOS, SYRIA - JUNE 29, 2012: Before the looting began. This unique Classical-period site, founded in the 3rd century BC and occupied until the 3rd century AD, demonstrates the diversity of the ancient Middle East. One of the worlds earliest churches was discovered here, as was one of the oldest preserved synagogues and numerous temples devoted to polytheistic deities. (Photo DigitalGlobe/Getty Images)
