Phindile Gwala Joins A Hit e.tv Drama Series. It’s about to get real, in the already sizzling hot Smoke & Mirrors. Phindile Gwala will arrive this evening as The Black Widow, a character that has never shown her face.
The talented actress and entrepreneur made a name for herself when she was cast as Nonny, in Muvhango. Five years after leaving the SABC2 drama, Phindile played Fikile in Imbewu-The Seed. The role of Fikile was not a favorite though to some viewers. Many people regarded her as a home wrecker, and opportunist. But hey, a job is a job, and Phindile slayed the character as many expected she would.
Now she is back again to the small screen with another interesting role. She plays Khanyo, the person behind The Black Widow. Phindile’s Black Widow Khanyo is more of a mystery because not a single person has ever seen her in person nor photographed her. She makes her debut tonight, Tuesday 28th November.
“Gulukudu phakathi eMnyameni… Meet Khanyo, the Black Widow tonight at 21:00 only on E-TV #SmokeAndMirrors,” the actress announced excitedly.
Smoke & Mirrors is set in the landscape of a small mining town called Emnyameni. Here, we come to learn that the story lives up to its name- nothing and no one is truly as they seem. Introducing the character of Thandiswa, a hairdresser by day, an escort by night, and a girl on a mission to rid the town of “The Unholy Trinity”, the group of morally corrupt men who run Emnyameni.
The drama boast a talented cast among them, Charmaine Mtinta, Meshack Mavuso, Lusanda Mbane, Zoliza Xaluva, Kabomo Vilakazi, Siyabonga Raymond Sepotokela, Zinhle Mabena and JT Medupe.
