Ford Is Planning To Launch An Entrepreneur Development Centre In SA

Ford is set to launch a job training and entrepreneurial development centre in South Africa which i aimed at community development in Africa. This plan is part of a $4 million investment.

Ford said it would be partnering with Future Families, a local non-profit organisation that services orphans and households affected by HIV/Aids, to help run the centre. The centre will offer self-sustainable courses which will include career guidance and upskill graduates in financial literacy, business and entrepreneurial skills. The centre will also focus on vocational and technical jobs that include plumbing, care-giving and computer and office administration training.

Jim Vella, the president of fund and community services at the Ford Motor Company, said yesterday that the launch of the new centre marked a major step forward in Ford’s journey to help build a better world.

Entrepreneurs are set to receive a major boost with the establishment of the Ford Resource and Engagement Centre due to launch near the automaker’s Silverton assembly plant in October.

The Ford Fund has also announced that it will be expanding its education scholarships, grants and training programmes across Africa.
