Job description

We are seeking an ambitious and imaginative junior research strategist to join our team. This individual will be required to have the ability to self-direct, and think critically, in order to support research and strategic initiatives in a digitally converged world.

The junior research strategist is responsible for providing accurate and agile research, analysing it, and presenting findings. They must be strongly drawn to collaborative work, able to think on their feet, and always be learning.

Essential job functions:
Main responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate and support in research initiatives with senior strategists and analysts.
  • Provide timely and consistent analysis of research data including, but not limited to, sections of considerable difficulty.
  • Learning raw data management and processing – transcriptions, quality checking, coding, clustering and analysis pack development.
  • Assist in the design and conducting of digital social listening and trend research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education level: marketing related degree/diploma.
  • One to two years’ experience in one or more of the following: experiential marketing, strategy planning, market research, marketing, digital marketing and/or advertising.
  • Proficient with Mac (we do not work with PC).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) – bonus (proficiency with iWork Keynote)
  • Experience with digital communications technologies / experience in digital, social and mobile technologies, strategies and tactics.
  • Internet proficiency to undertake desk research and trend tracking.
  • Critical – Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings.
  • Critical – Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.

Advantageous

  • Ideally speaks at least one other South African language in addition to English or Afrikaans.
  • Ideally has own transport.
