The purpose of the internship programme is to offer candidates who are looking to pursue a career in arts administration or curatorship, the opportunity to obtain practical workplace exposure and experience.

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the running of PIAD activities and projects.
  • Assist with administrative duties.
  • Work with national and international artists and diverse communities.
  • Report to the co-ordinator and programme directors.
  • Assist with the evaluation, recording and cataloguing of projects.
  • Assist with and develop educational programmes related to projects.
  • Conduct research.

Inherent requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Intention of pursuing a career in arts administration or curatorship.

Required competencies:

  • A keen interest in and knowledge of contemporary arts.

The following criteria apply to the selection of candidates:

  • Not currently participating in an existing learnership/internship programme.
  • Willing to sign a learnership/internship agreement with the UFS.
  • Candidate must be available for a period of 1 year to participate in the project.
  • Postgraduate qualification will serve as a recommendation.

Recommendations:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma within the Arts or Humanities field.

Assumption of duties:
As soon as possible.
