Black Coffee Scores A US Recording Deal!

Nkosinathi Maphumulo who’s best known as Black Coffee has landed a recording deal with US-based Ultra Records. He is also expected to release his latest album Pieces of Me through Ultra Records later this year, but gave fans a preview at the festival, performing his LP single, Come With Me. The award-winning Djmade headlines earlier this year when he announced that he’d be joining the Coachella Music Festival line-up in California. He’s kept the Coachella crowd dancing and singing along to his hits over the past two weeks.

Billboard.com quoted Ultra Music General Manager and Vice President of A&R David Waxman as saying, “At Ultra, we always look for distinctive styles that can be found underground and bring them to the forefront. With a distinguished sound and style that is representative of his African heritage, Black Coffee is one of the most respected artists in house music.”

The local star, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has kept fans at the Coachella Music Festival in California dancing and singing along to his SA rooted hits.

The DJ has received recognition from many international big shots, including rapper P Diddy and hip-hop and RnB artist Swizz Beatz. US hip hop and R&B artist Kasseem Dean, also known as Swizz Beatz, has taken note of Black Coffee’s blend of tunes.

Swizz Beats took to Instagram earlier today to compliment Black Coffee’s new album saying it is “on fire”.

The DJ is only expected back in the country in September.
