What People Expect To Hear From President Zuma’s State Of The Nation Address

On 11 February 2016 at 19h00., President Zuma will be talking to 55 million people, who have different needs and priorities. President Jacob Zuma will present the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) to a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament (National Assembly and National Council of Provinces). In his State Of Nation Address. the State of the Nation Address evolves over several months, and includes input from all government departments.

The 2016 theme is: “Following up on our commitments to the people”. According to the Presidency, Zuma will talk about government’s achievements of the past year and look to the future by presenting a programme for the coming year. This programme set out government’s plans to address various key government programmes.

President Jacob Zuma will have a difficult task trying to inspire confidence in the public, when he delivers his State of the Nation Address on Thursday evening, according to a leading analyst.

Zuma has been under severe scrutiny over the past few months, with his public ratings taking a massive knock after the fiasco around the sudden replacement of the minister of finance. South Africans will be listening to the president hoping to hear what his plans are for the next 12 months and how far the country has come since February 2015.
