5 Easy And Quick Ways To Become More Hygienic

Hygiene is one of those things everyone is expected to know but no one ever talks about, and there’s more to it than just wearing deodorant and rinsing with mouthwash. Good hygiene is important in taking care of yourself physically as well as emotionally. People often have infections because they don’t take good care of themselves physically, which can lead to emotional difficulties as well. To avoid physical problems associated with poor hygiene, consider the following ideas to keep yourself clean:

Hygiene

1. Bathe regularly

Wash your body and your hair often. “I’m not saying that you need to shower or bathe every day,” remarks Dr. Novey. “But you should clean your body and shampoo your hair at regular intervals that work for you.” Your body is constantly shedding skin. Novey explains, “That skin needs to come off. Otherwise, it will cake up and can cause illnesses.”

2. Trim your nails

Keeping your finger and toenails trimmed and in good shape will prevent problems such as hang nails and infected nail beds. Feet that are clean and dry are less likely to contract athlete’s foot, Novey says.

3. Brush and floss

Regardless of the type of toothbrush you use, make sure you brush your teeth at least two times per day, if not after every meal. This will help minimize the amount of bacteria in your mouth which leads to tooth decay, and will help you maintain a healthy, happy smile.  In addition to regular brushing, it is critical to floss your teeth at least once a day, usually before you go to bed. This will enable you to reduce plaque in the more difficult to reach places-between teeth and at the back of your molars.

4. Wash your hands

Washing your hands before preparing or eating food, after going to the bathroom, after coughing or sneezing, and after handling garbage, goes a long way toward preventing the spread of bacteria and viruses. Keep a hygiene product, like an alcohol-based sanitizing gel, handy for when soap and water isn’t available.

5. Wash your clothes after wearing them

In general, shirts should be washed after every use, while pants and shorts can be worn a few times before they require washing. Use your best judgment to determine how often to wash your clothes. Remove any stains from your clothing before wearing them. Iron out wrinkles, and use a lint-remover to remove unwanted lint and hair from clothing.
