Vacancy: IT Service Asset Manager

Job Summary
Responsibilities / Outputs Implements the Service Asset Management policy and standards
Evaluates existing Asset Management systems and the design, implementation and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness
Agrees scope of the Asset Management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded
Develops Asset Management standards, Asset Management plans and procedures
Ensures that the Asset Management methods and processes are properly approved and communicated to staff before being implemented
Performs secretarial function for the Asset Standards Committee
Manages the evaluation and implementation of Asset Management tools
Agrees assets to be uniquely identified with naming conventions
Ensures that staff comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates
Interacts with various IT functions to ensure appropriate Asset Management
Plans population of the Asset DB; manages the Asset DB, central libraries and tools
Ensures regular housekeeping of the Asset DB which will form part of the bigger CMS i.e. Populates and administers Asset Register containing the JSE’s IT assets and maintains detail required especially in support of the following processes:
Financial asset accounting
Configuration Management
Third party vendor and support management
Facilitates the creation of a JSE Asset Standards list through administration of the process of applying, approving and rejecting software standards
Researches and recommends decisions regarding JSE Asset Standards considering alternative products
Reviews Asset Standards and provides recommendations of amendments to the Asset Standards Committee
Performs regular checks to ensure that the information contained in the CMS is an exact representation of the Configuration Items (CIs) installed in the live production, DR and test environments including performing Asset lifecycle administration to ensure all Assets are appropriately accounted for through the Asset lifecycle
Interprets license agreements with assistance from the IT Contract Manager
Ensures licenses that are managed are linked to software assets
Interacts with Contract Manager and Procurement Manager to ensure appropriate purchasing and contract management principles are upheld as part of Asset Management
Identifies and drives process improvements, controls, and procedures in relation to the role
Arranges recruitment and training of staff
Reports on non-compliance to standards to the Asset Standards Committee and drives out actions through interaction with various IT departments
Provides monthly reports, including management reports
Experience Degree in IT or equivalent
Certified in ITIL Service Asset and Configuration Management and/or Service Transition
At least 5 years experience in IT Asset Management preferred which includes experience with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project) and hardware assets
Understanding of the JSE will be an advantage
