Asavela Mqokiyana On Why She Wont Take Part In Polygamous Marriage. Polygamy is still practiced by many people in South Africa. A man is allowed to take as many wives as he wishes, for various reasons. Some practice polygamy to grow their family name, whereas others do it for status among other reasons.

The likes of Musa Mseleku , who has four wives, advocate for this kind of arrangement. Through his reality show, Uthando Ne’sthembu, the successful businessman, and his four wives let viewers in their lives. On the show, they try to navigate life, polygamous relationships, family dynamics, sisterhood and tradition within the modern world. There are challenges though, as the wives disagree with some of their husband’s decisions, and at times, the themselves don’t get along.

This kind of arrangement is a choice though. Some women refuse for their husbands to take more wives, whereas others leave if a man brings more women to the marriage. One social media user recently took to Twitter asking women if they would be in a polygamous marriage. Asavela Mqokiyana, joined in on the conversation, and vehemently stated that polygamy is not for her.

Citing her reasons, the talented actress said she is the jealous type. She also added that she would constantly worry about getting sexually transmitted diseases from all the unprotected sex with other partners. There is also the financial issue, which has Asavela concerned. She is worried about money being shared among the wives.
