Dineo Moeketsi Lands Her First Leading Role In A New South African Film!

Dineo Moeketsi is expanding her successful career beyond Scandal. Talented TV personality and singer now has her eyes set on set on producing films locally as well as acting outside of South Africa. Most importantly, she’s excited about telling local stories and South Africa’s ability to tell these stories. The 26-year-old model is becoming a big hit in the movie industry, too, taking on her first leading role as an actress.

Dineo Moeketsi has landed her first leading role in the upcoming tongue-in-cheek South African film Mrs Right Guy – and she has plans to take her career even further.  Moeketsi will be playing the lead female character , Gugu, who she describes “the walking wounded”, who rejects love long before it can get too close to rock her self-imposed exile from love. Mrs Right Guy was directed by Adze Uga and also stars Lehasa Moloi, Thapelo Mokoena, Tau Maserumule and Thando Thabethe.

Dineo Moeketsi opened up about her role in the film and this is what the actress had to say about her character, Gugu, in Mrs Right Guy, a film about a young woman whose fantasy honeymoon becomes a nightmare when her husband leaves her broken, humiliated and bitter. The film was shot two years ago. “It’s been an amazing experience,” Dineo says. “This is how I came to find [Adze] Uga, my absolutely favourite director. I don’t think I’ve ever given a performance like this. I don’t think I’ve ever gone this far. I’ve gone further in the two years, but I think this was the catapult to the next level in terms of my acting – I’m always looking to get better.”

Playing the role of Gugu has taught the actress many things about love. “I’ve found that love defines a lot of people’s courses in life,” she says. “People decide to take on a particular journey because they believe they’ve gone through something and it’s supposed to be like that. In my opinion, Mrs Right Guy is the most realistic fairy tale. I don’t think you’ll find a cheesy ending to it. A lot of women will go, ‘I can deal with that’.”
