Minister Mbalula Clears His Name In The Proteas Scandal
Over the past few days there has been some speculation surrounding the cause of Proteas loss against New Zealand in the cricket world cup semi final last week. The rumors claim that South African Cricket CEO Mr Haroon Lorgat, ordered the Proteas coach via an SMS to “pick an extra person of color” in the team and this was an order from the Minister of Sports, Fikile Mbalula.
Cricket SA has denied the allegations and Mr Lorgat has called the allegations “nonsense”. One person who’s not letting this slide is the Minister himself Fikile Mbalula, who issued a statement saying that the speculations were “acts of desperate colonial apologist who will not be dignified by mentioning their names”.
He continued today on a twitter rant on why the claims are false challenging anyone who had proof to come forward. The Minister said he doesn’t blame anyone for the team’s loss but natural odds which were against the team.
We are glad the Minister took his time to clarify the issue and clear his name. We are just confused on who and why would someone hate on such a cool Minister like that?!
The Minister ended his rant on a positive note saying he’s about to transform sports in two weeks. We can’t wait to see what our favorite Minister has been up to.
