10 Ways To Remove Distractions While Studying

Studying requires a lot of concentration and it is important for good grades. Whether you are a learner or student, studying can be very beneficial especially when it’s done right. However , we all know those distractions that have a way of creeping in while we studying and at the times when we really need to concentrate. We often get distracted without realizing that we already are. Once distracted, we engage in the new task and we don’t pay attention to what we were originally supposed to do.

1. Find A Good Place to Study – Prepare to study effectively by finding a good place to study and make it your own. Without a suitable study space, you’re most likely to get no work done. Always keep in mind that a  good place to study isn’t necessarily one that’s comfortable.

Many of the best students already make studying an active process by highlighting notes, making flashcards, working on practice questions, creating diagrams and mind maps. Average students and weaker students need a nudge, a nudge that comes with directions.

6. Stay positive -It is important that you find time to reflect upon what an education means to you. What makes an educated person? What do you expect to get out of your time spent the university? An active approach will see you taking initiative to seek understanding so that your intellectual paradigm goes beyond paper chases: you think critically, you are open to new knowledge, and you find pleasure in learning.

Set Up A Timer – If you are finding it difficult to locate the time you need to study, or that there are conflicts among the various demands on your time, you may need to give greater consideration to your goals. By getting clear on your goals, it will be easier to decide how to spend your time. You’ll find that you can more easily put off other things and set aside the time you need for studies, if you know how it will help you to achieve your educational or career goals.

8. Break Larger Task Into Smaller Ones – The truth is, ambitious goals can be as intimidating and demoralising as they can be inspiring and motivating. The secret to making them come to life is to break your big goal down into lots of smaller steps that will gradually get you to where you want to be – and focus on them. This is called ‘chunking’

9. Find Constancy ConsistencyOne of the key attribute to effective and smart studying is Consistency. Consistency is by far the most important factor. If you can devote a solid twenty minutes a day, nearly every day, you will be far more successful than if you “cram” for an hour or two, but only sporadically.

10. Always see the bigger picture – When we are in the midst of a crisis, it’s not always easy to see the bigger picture because we are consumed with emotions and often overwhelmed. In this case, remember what you want to achieve at the end of your studies and always know that you will benefit big time!
