10 Habits Of Happiest People

Most people make happiness conditional, they tell themselves they will be truly happy ‘if’ something good happens in their lives. Their happiness depends on the situations they are in, but the true measurement of happiness shouldn’t be based on wealth or achievement or events. Happiness should be a choice we choose over misery.

No matter what’s happening in your life you can choose to be happy by viewing situations differently. Here are some of the habits of those people in your life that seem to be happy all the time.

1. Let go of grudges
Holding on to grudges means you still anger and resentment towards the person you are angry at. Letting go, forgiving and forgetting is good for your own happiness, it frees you from all the negativity and attracts the positive.

2. Be grateful
Expressing gratitude for the things that you have helps you cope with stress better. Remember there’s always a good thing or a lesson in every situation that seems bad. To maintain happiness you should always remind yourself of what you have overcome and count your blessings.

3. Treat people with kindness
Being kind is not only beneficial to the person you are kind to; it will also make you happy. Practice random acts of kindness to everyone around you, it’s contagious too.

4. Don’t compare
Stop comparing yourself to others, everyone is unique. Our passions, dreams and how we get blessed is different for every single one of us. Don’t measure your success based on others, measure it based on your own progress.

5. Avoid making excuses
It’s easier to blame other people for the things that have gone wrong in your life; this means you will always be stuck in the past. Own your mistakes and realize it’s already done and move on and stop worrying about the future.

6. Embrace discomfort
Have signature strength, embracing discomfort for mastery. The learning process might not be comfortable but knowing the end result or what you are thriving for should make you happy because you have something to look forward to.

7. Don’t ignore your dreams
What we spend our days doing has a big influence on our happiness. Work hard to fulfill your dreams; people who do what they love are happier than someone who’s stuck doing something they hate even if it pays more.

8. Build social relationships
Nurture the positive social relationships that you have. Make time for your friends and relatives and those you love; surround yourself with positive people who appreciate you as much as you appreciate them.

9. Exercise
Working out boosts level of health promoting brain chemicals which may help buffer some of the effects of stress and also relieve symptoms of depression.

10. Unplug
Whether it’s meditating, taking a few deep breaths or taking a walk outside, unplugging from our hyper-connected world has proven advantages when it comes to happiness.
