Linux Systems Administrator Job

Are you naturally analytical? Can you work well on your own? In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) infrastructure which include systems administration, application and desktop support.

Minimum requirements:
• Diploma or Degree preferred
• At least four to six years operational experience
• Willingness to work after hours when required

Duties and responsibilities:
• Manage ASP (Application Service Provider) architecture consisting of Linux and Windows servers
• Monitor, manage and resolve database resources
• Manage all application environments inclusive of DNS, Apache, Sendmail, Postifix, MySQL, Postgre SQL, Progress RDBMS, Cups, LPRing, Appservers
• Write automation procedures if and where required i.e. windows and Linux scripting
• Design, configure, install and maintain all hardware including stand alone servers, virtualisation, and storage solutions
• Provide technical support, training and technical documentation to the technical services team
• Perform daily system monitoring
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
• Perform daily backup operations
• Manage (install, configure and troubleshoot) application environments consisting of both hardware and software

Skilled in:
• Operating systems
• Relational databases
• Systems and application security
• Network technologies including VPN’s, client and server-side firewalls
• Monitoring software such as Nagios, Zabbix and other commercial packages where applicable
