10 Talented SA Artists to Look out for in 2015

We’ve already seen them on our screens and they are good. They have convinced South Africa that they are the real deal and of course we witnessed it all last year. 2014 was a great year music-wise especially in the Hip Hop industry. We saw AKA and Cassper creating hype with their winning albums. K.O came out of the box and showed SA what he is all about. Reason was also one of the Hip Hop artists who made his mark with hit singles.

So let’s get straight into things. Enough about Hip Hop because this year looks promising in all genres. Good artists are stepping up in House, Jazz, RnB and Electric dance.

Most of these artists have been in the industry for some time now but it is clear that this year will be a good year for them. In no particular order they are:

1. Karabo L

Is a Jazz vocalist known for her sultry-voice, accomplished song writing and her literary interpretation of jazz standards. A Former member of the internationally acclaimed Musical group “UMOJA”, Former band Member of the legendary jazz band “Flaming Souls”.

2. Tellaman

He has worked with many artists/producers locally and internationally. ellaman’s music has been receiving amazing response and air play from countless radio stations e.g. uKhozi fm, Metro fm, iNanda fm, Vibe fm, Gagasi fm and many more. Tellaman’s also part of a brand called Select_Play that specialize in beat making (Hip hop) and has won the producer of the year award 2012 (OMAS), the single of the year award 2012 (OMAZ) and won back to the city producers battle etc.

3. Jankie Makopa

He sings and raps in Setswana. Jankie Makopa has been on numerous media mediums for interviews and performances on Radio stations: Metro FM, Thobela FM, Ikwekwezi fm, Motsweding fm and Mafikeng FM and Television programmes: Morning Live, Sunrise and Craze. Newspapers: Sowetan and Daily Sun to mention a few. He has also had the opportunity to open up for the multi award winning group Mafikizolo on numerous shows around South Africa including the “Old Mutual Picnic Garden”

4. Xoli M

This lady is really something fresh in the music scene. Her voice is unique and it’s one that leaves a lasting impression. Black Motion did a great with her on their hit track “Rainbow”. The song was perfectly put together and it was one of the great songs last year. We hope to see more work from her.

5. Miss Pru

Miss Pru
Miss Pru’s career took in 2009 at Fuse Academy, where she worked as a receptionist, and soon found herself spinning the disks like a pro. Her commitment and undying passion for the music has seen her showcasing her skills alongside industry giants such as Louis Vega, Josh Milan, Anane, Oskido, Vinny Da Vinci, Black Coffee, DJ Christos just to name but a few.

6. Solo

Zothile Langa, popularly known as Solo, is a down-to-earth wordsmith whose music signals a return to hip-hop’s storytelling element. With the release of “Bad” (off the No Shades Of Grey EP) in 2011 under soul man Kabomo Vilakazi, SA hip-hop legends ProVerb and Tumi Molekane quickly jumped at the opportunity to remix “Star Dust,” a gem off Solo’s debut album, .Dreams.A.Plenty. “The Shame 2.0,” featuring Buks and Ginger Breadman, is his latest offering, and makes a head-nodder out of a rap reality check.

8. Anga Makubalo

Anga Makubalo
When we thought things were turning bad for this talented man, they were just about to get even better. Anga is popularily known for his role “MJ” in Generations. He was also pushing his music career at the same but it wasn’t that successful. We must say that the track ‘”Call Out” by Dj Fisherman where he was featured made him noticeable with no doubt. He is very talented and we want to see more from him.

9. MoonChild

Moonchild has performed alongside artists such as Madala Kunene, Gcina Hlope and Busi Mhlongo. The move to the city of lights has also presented the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of the BLK JKS and Thandiswa Mazwai.

10. Mashayabhuqe KaMamba

Mashayabhuqe KaMamba

He is the son of the popular musician Oskido’s  and is a young producer Bass. According to presenter and singer Nandi Mngoma, hip-hop artist Mashayabhuqe KaMamba is going places.
