Gauteng Provincial Legislature Internship Opportunity: Audit, Risk & Governance

Introduction

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature is offering an Internship Opportunity to be responsible for Risk Management, Internal Audit as well as Governance & Admin.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of and skill in applying risk management principles and practices.
• Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Knowledge of the COSO Framework, Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA), its Code of Ethics and principles.
• Skill in conducting quality control reviews on work performed.
• Skill in collecting and analysing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
• Skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Skill in negotiating issues and resolving challenges.
• Skill in using a computer with MS Office (word processing, spreadsheet and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries and analyses etc.)
• Skill in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skill in presenting reports.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff and other stakeholders, and to work effectively in a professional team environment.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Ability to learn on the job and maximise the opportunity afforded.
• Ability to be a team player and work independently where required.
• Ability in having the initiative to start a task pro-actively.

Required Qualification:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management.

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

Ability
• Analyse and interpret risk/reward profiles
• Assist in directing compliance goals
• Attain established compliance goals as directed by senior management
• Ensure adherence and compliance to internal risk controls
• Provide assistance to management in providing analyses, appraisals, recommendations and advice in governing processes and sysystems
• Planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Conduct quality control reviews
Knowledge
• Government instituted laws
