Post Matric Entrepreneurship Training Program at the Barn

Calling all matriculates from 2011-2013 who are currently unemployed and are interested in entrepreneurship as an option for creating their own employment.

The objective of the Post Matric Entrepreneurial Skills Training Programme is to give unemployed matrics an opportunity to become skilled in entrepreneurship as a very real possible option to creating their own employment (and possible employment for others in the long term) and earning an income. The programme is driven by the obvious need we face in South Africa to see very many more young people not only earning an income but feeling a sense of pride in their accomplishments by tapping into the potential which they already possess and are often unaware of.

The target group includes youth who have either failed matric and have not gone back to repeat the year, those who passed but not received good grades and even those who may have obtained a bachelor’s but are unable to access tertiary education. The idea is to turn what may be a sense of hopelessness and disappointment into an inspired vision of possibilities by showing them how to identify opportunities, assess viability of an idea and then work on changing their mindset from that of an employee to an entrepreneur.

I imagine the ripple effect that it could have on the greater communities struggling with poverty if this programme is able to reach substantial numbers of participants in each and every province of our country.

Topics that will be covered:

Day 1 will be focused on idea generation. Participants will be guided through various processes and exercises which will allow them to identify opportunities in the classroom and beyond.

Day 2 the programme will elaborate on what participants have already learnt and will formulate a strategic plan to select a feasible and viable new venture which will include researching the idea.

Day 3 will take the participants through the process of shifting their mindset from that of an employee to an entrepreneur and will include a large component on setting goals and planning. For purposes of the pilot project and due to limited space, we have specified that we would like participants to have completed their matric year in 2011, 2012 or 2013. Participants who complete all 3 days of the programme will be given a certificate of attendance.

When: Monday, 3rd February – Wednesday, 5th February

Time: 9:00am – 12:00am

Venue: 66 – 68 Albert Road, Block B, 3rd Floor, Woodstock
