Loyiso Gola Reveals He is the Brains Behind The Roast of Khanyi Mbau Jokes. Well talk about a spoiler alert! When so many people were praising some of our personalities for their funny bone, Loyiso Gola has come through to burst their bubble.
Monday evening, Showmax and Comedy Central Channel 122 broadcasted the much anticipated Roast of Khanyi Mbau. The hot panel was made up of well known personalities John Vlismas, Sello Maake kaNcube, Celeste Ntuli, Youngster CPT, Devi Sankaree, Sol Phenduka, Nadia Nakai, Selbeyonce and Tbo Touch. Everyone of the panelists fired shots at each other, as well as Khanyi Mbau, showing us a side of them we never knew. Mpho Popps also did not disappoint at the roast master and unleashed shot after shot.
Well, well, well, what do you know! It turns out that most of those jokes were scripted. Loyiso came out to revel that him and his team are the ones behind those punchlines. The award winning comedian and TV personality says the wrote and approved every joke and every word, well, except for Tbo Touch, who came with his own jokes.
“This year I was tasked by Comedy Central to write The Roast of Khanyi Mbau. What does that entail many people have asked. Well it’s scripting The Roast ….writing and approving every joke and word. I had to put together a team of people who I believed would pull this off. A couple of them were first time writers and had never been in a writers room before. At the end of it all I was really proud of the team and what we were able to pull off. I want to thank the panelist for trusting us,” Loyiso said.
