10 Things that will get you stopped by the Police

No one likes the feeling in the pit of their stomach when they get flagged down by the police. Chances are you were driving too fast or its a just a safety check. no need to feel nervous if you know you you did nothing wrong. Avoid getting stopped by not doing the following things:

Speeding – Stick to the speed limits assigned on the side of the road. According to the South African National Road Traffic, the speed limit within an urban area is 60km/h, 100km/h on public roads outside an urban area which is not a free way, and 120km/h on freeways.

Recklessness – a driver on any public road should be mindful of all occupants of the road including pedestrians. Reckless driving will not only get you a traffic fine, but it may put the lives of other people at risk.

Changing lanes unnecessarily – The correct procedure when changing lanes should be followed. In other words, stick to your lane, and keep a safe following distance. Do not drive in the yellow lane unless you are driving below the speed on the side of the road.

Loud music – Loud music can be distracting when driving. Studies show that when drivers are listening to music that they like they listen more actively. This may cause them to pay less attention to the road especially if the volume of is high.

Not only will talking on the phone distract you but it could cause you to lose control over the vehicle. Over the years cars have been created to connect to phones allowing you to talk on the phone freely without having to hold your phone up to your ear.

Texting – According to studies, texting reduces the reaction times of drivers. When texting, you tend to wonder across the lane into the other and have trouble maintaining a safe following difference. Some people think that as long as the vehicle is not moving its okay to text. Such as people at the traffic lights or in slow moving traffic.

Putting on make-up – There is a time and place for everything. Applying make uptakes time and effort and you need to pay attention to details. It therefore should be kept in the comfort of your own bed room with a large enough mirror. Diving needs just as much effort. The two should never be combined.

Driving without a seat belt – Seat belts are meant for your safety. They have helped many people when their cars were in a collision. They might not be comfortable but they could save your life too.

Driving certain cars – The police are like to stop you if you are driving a citi Golf because these acre in high demand amongst thieves and are often stolen.
