Vacancy: Classified Sales Person
| Job Description | Boland Media requires the services of an enthusiastic classifieds sales person for their Classifieds Call Centre in Paarl, to take responsibility for various of the group’s weekly community publications – inter alia Hermanus Times, Distrikspos, Eikestadnuus, Worcester Standard, Paarl Post, Weslander and some of the Gazette titles. |
| Minimum Requirements | • Taking down and processing classified advertisements over the telephone • Generating new business on a daily basis by selling classified advertisements, as well as recruiting on special classified focuses per title • Seeing to it that monthly targets are reached and exceeded • Market stimulation by innovative ideas and creating advertising platforms to provide in clients’ advertising needs and advertising objectives • Identifying and capitalising on opportunities to generate additional income • Recruiting advertisements from other media • Cross-selling of advertisements over some or all of the die Boland Media titles • Weekly follow-up with the reception person of each branch regarding possible new clients. |
| Skills & Competencies | • Matric or similar qualification • Previous call centre experience will be an advantage • At least 2 years’ sales experience • Good typing skills (35 words per minute) • Computer skills, especially in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) • Experience of SAP would be advantageous • E xcellent people skills – internally and externally |
| Duties & Responsibilities | • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills • Effective communication skills (writing and speaking) in Afrikaans and English • Strong presentation skills • Valid driver’s licence and own, reliable transport essential • A positive attitude and the ability to render excellent work under pressure in an extremely competitive environment • Initiative and ability to close transactions. |
