Loeries® is awarding Creative Future Scholarships

The Loeries® Creative Future Scholarship will provide the students with mentorship from Greg Tregoning, co-founder of Vega School of Brand Leadership, assistance with internships, as well as management of allowances of R20,000 per year. The total value of each scholarship is R500,000.

You could be that student!

Ever dreamed of a future where freedom of expression is encouraged? Ever wanted a career that enables you to be more, well, you? Ever imagined living every day finding new ways to express yourself? It’s called creativity.

Who can apply?

For 2016, only Grade 12 learners in KwaZulu-Natal, who come from a disadvantaged background will be eligible. DOWNLOAD THE ENTRY FORM HERE

What do you get?

The Creative Future Scholarship covers just about everything – fees, study materials, transport, accommodation and living expenses.
The current total value of the Creative Future Scholarship per student (excluding computer & tuition fees) is R71,000!

Plus it offers mentorship, internships and finally employment in the communications industry after studying. But don’t think this is a free ride. Creativity isn’t easy. The selection process alone involves a review of your portfolio, a creative challenge and a grueling interview. If you qualify, we promise you an exciting and fulfilling ride.

In 2015, as part of Loeries® Durban, the bursary recipients are studying at Vega School of Brand Leadership in Durban. Thanks to the generous financial support of the Brand Council South Africa, Scholarship recipients in their second year of study now receive an Apple MacBook Pro as part of the Scholarship!

The top candidates will be invited to an interview and the recipient of the scholarship will be announced at the awards ceremony during Loeries®Creative Week Durban 2016.

Our Past Creative Future Scholarship Recipients

Developing young creative talent has been a core principle for the Loeries® since its inception in 1978, and the introduction of the Creative Future Scholarship in 2008 cemented the dedication to this cause. The scholarship’s aim is to assist learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to study brand communication on a tertiary level, and build awareness of the career opportunities available in the creative services sector. The scholarship programme continues to transform the lives of young creatives with the opportunity to explore their creative talents.

“It is so important for us to lead the conversation that creativity can transform young lives. This opportunity can lead to a successful career path and a bright future for school learners,” says Andrew Human, CEO of the Loeries®.

Unlike other education funds, this programme goes to high schools, builds awareness and seeks out talented individuals. Through this process, learners who would otherwise be unaware of the opportunities available are brought into the creative economy.

The Loeries® celebrates the success of each individual who has been through our scholarship programme, but at the same time, we are proud of our broader contribution to the transformation of the brand communications industry through the Creative Future Scholarship awareness campaign.

As testament to the success of the Creative Future Scholarship programme, and its ability to transform the lives of young, talented creatives, Siyabonga Ntamela, the scholarship’s first recipient in 2008 served on the judging panel in the student category at this year’s Loeries.

2016 Deadline: 04 July!
