Oscar Pistorius’ Mental Observation… journey continues

The country eagerly awaits the feedback after Judge Thokozile Masipa granted the state’s application to have murder-accused Oscar Pistorius referred for mental observation.  People have been left with open-ended questions around Pistorius’ sudden general anxiety disorder.
Testifying for the defence on the 12th of May 2014, Psychiatrist Dr Merryll Vorster said Pistorius has many features of anxiety with a series of events that took place in his life, including the amputation of his lower legs as a baby, his parents’ divorce, his late mother’s habit of sleeping with a gun under her pillow and his own fear of violent crime contributed to his increasingly stress.
Pistorius’ lawyer Barry Roux has also said Pistorius’ vulnerability and disability was at the centre of his case of a mistaken killing. Oscar Pistorius will start a period of psychiatrist evaluation at a state institution next week, the Judge ruled on Tuesday as she postponed court proceedings till 30 June 2014. So we wait…
