South African will be on a standstill as the Nedbank Cup final comes to live at the Moses Mabhida Stadium

The final of the Nedbank Cup will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban for the second year running as the venue fast becomes a favourite for staging knockout deciders.
Tomorrow’s showpiece fixture will be the sixth cup final staged at the venue since it was opened before the 2010 World Cup and for the second season running it has staged two of the three knockout deciders in South African football.

Ever since they saw their hopes for the PSL title fade Orlando Pirates Coach Vladimir Vermezovic disclosed that their focus now was the Nedbank Cup, with his team’s smooth performance in the tournament they seek and hope to gain victory. The game against Maritzburg United saw them into the finals after beating Maritzburg 2-1 in the semi-finals.

Orlando Pirates will be up against the well prepared and determined Bidvest wits “Clever boys” who defeated Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-finals where they drew 2-2(4-2) but managed to see themselves through to the finals after winning by penalties . BidVest Wits will be hoping to maintain their positive record in previous Nedbank Cup competition finals as they go into their fourth against Orlando Pirates. It will be the first time they have met The Buccaneers in the competition decider and their third final in the competition in the last decade.Nedbank

The Wits Assistant Coach says it is important for them to win the game and that however way there is no pressure on their boys, as it is believed that it is actually tough on Pirates as they have that big cloud of losing three cup finals in a row that they need to overcome.

The game will be played at: Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 17th of May 2014, 15:00pm.
