AMASA learnership

In its sixth year of attracting talented youth into the media industry, the AMASA Learnership Programme (ALP) is calling for applications for 2014 intern positions.

This year AMASA (Advertising Media Association of South Africa) will be allocating ALP positions to ten gifted graduates who wish to embed their careers in the media and advertising world. These ten successful candidates will be employed and mentored by South Africa’s leading media companies via highly valuable internship opportunities. They will also be enrolled into the highly acclaimed AAA Media Management module endorsed by AMASA, as well attend the popular AMASA Media Planning Workshop.

For the past six years AMASA has partnered with South Africa’s leading media companies which take on the mentorship of the ALP interns and fast-track their hands on experience. During the programme, the ALP candidates will receive quality training from both AMASA and these partner agencies. Each intern will receive a six-month remunerated contract with their host company.

The ALP programme is at the heart of what AMASA stands for as it aims to attract bright young minds into the exciting world of media strategy, planning and advertising. The ALP aims to ensure that individuals not only excel in the theory but gain invaluable experience in the practise of media planning in order to become assets to the industry as a whole.

AMASA’s outgoing chairperson, Lyn Jones is highly passionate about the programme and says “the ALP is AMASA’s core reason for being, enabling us to deliver against our primary mandate of driving media education and up skilling the industry. The ALP now calls to graduates who not only possess exceptional academic credentials, but outstanding potential.” Jones continues, “the ALP programme offers talented graduates a unique foot into the advertising media industry and the opportunity to be mentored by some of the most respected professionals in the industry. Simultaneously, the ALP assists in curbing the talent shortage from an agency perspective.”
