Bursary to study fashion design at LISOF Fashion Design School

Are you ready to join the exciting world of fashion? ELLE will be awarding one person a bursary to attend LISOF.

The 2015 bursary winner will join a long list of illustrious graduates that include Suzaan Heyns, Tiaan Nagel and Ella Buter (SuperElla).

With graduates populating the upper echelons of the fashion industry, LISOF’s reputation as the most progressive fashion school in the country is well established. Founder and director, Shana Rosenthal says; ‘20 years ago I would never have imagined that LISOF would grow into such a dynamic and progressive institution. I believe that our ability to engage in real conversations about what makes great clothing and to then translate these conversations into a learning experience that delivers on those challenges is what sets us apart. LISOF offers a full-time Bachelor of Arts in Fashion, Bachelor of Arts Honours in Fashion, Diploma in Fashion and Higher Certificate in Fashion qualification as well as an exciting range of part-time short courses in everything from design to make-up and fashion photography.

LISOF has two sites of delivery:

– Blairgowrie (Full-Time, Part-Time Short Courses & Night School)

– Hatfield (Full-Time & Part-Time Short Courses).

HOW TO ENTER:

1. Submit one sketch (A3 size) with suitable fabric swatches for each of the following two categories:

Glamour Grunge and Tokyo Street Grunge.

2. Write a motivation (no more than 200 words) for your designs.

3. Write a motivation (no more than 200 words) on why you would benefit from winning the ELLE Fashion Bursary.

4. Send your entry in an A3 plastic sleeve with a cover sheet indicating your full name, date of birth, and full contact details to: ELLE Fashion Bursary Competition, PO Box 1284, Parklands, 2121. Please include a certified copy of your SA ID document.

COMPETITION RULES:

1. To enter this competition, you must be a South African citizen.

2. You must have successfully completed Grade 12 (or higher) or currently be in Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate or National Certificate Vocational) and pass it at the end of 2014.

3. Entries must reach us by Thursday the 27th of March 2014.

4. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

5. The winner will be informed telephonically by Wednesday the 23rd of April 2014, and will be invited to receive the award at the LISOF Fashion Show at the end of the year.

6. The winner should be prepared to start his/her studies in the last week of January 2015.

7. The award is guaranteed for one year and thereafter at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer of LISOF. The continuation of the bursary funding will depend on the academic and behavioural performance of the winner.

8. The award covers tuition only, and does not include living expenses, travelling expenses, educational consumables, textbooks or equipment.
