PUBLICIST

Location: Communications Department in Johannesburg

Reporting to the GM: Group Communications, your key performance areas include:

  • Responsible for a portfolio of shows appearing on e.tv Channels
  • Responsible for the communication around the general e.tv Channels
  • Adhere to the administration required including consistency of communication and submission of weekly status reports
  • Keep financial records of different projects under his/her portfolio
  • Manage database and information about the different projects in their portfolio
  • Prepare Communication strategies for the Channel and the different shows
  • Write publicity material for portfolio of shows
  • Work closely with the photographer in helping to facilitate onset photography as well as other photo opportunities
  • Plans, coordinate and directs activities with the goal to solicit strategic media coverage

Media Relations

  • Establish professional relationships with key media
  • Draft publicity plans for the shows in portfolio
  • Pitch feature ideas to journalists
  • Deal with media requests for interviews and pictures
  • Send publicity material to media and following these up

Stakeholder Relations

  • Create and maintain the public image of the celebrities associated with e.tv shows
  • Cultivate a genuine, working relationships with key entertainment industry stakeholders e.g. image consultants, photojournalists and corporate
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationship with key groups such as producers, actors and other stakeholders associated with the shows

Events

  • Coordinate e.tv celebrity invitations to strategic entertainment industry events
  • Ensure careful planning and management, media and celebrity attendance and post event media coverage
  • Deal with e.tv celebrities’ requests at the strategic entertainment industry events e.g. screenings and promotional events e.t.c.
  • Coordinate e.tv celebrities for Corporate Social Investment projects
  • Media event Management
  • Liaise with the e.tv Events team to organise events held by the department
  • Distribution of event invites –either electronically or physically
  • Collate RSVPs from media contacts
  • Set-up Talent releases: coordinate bios, press releases, photos, EPKs, press kits

Online

  • Monitor website material for shows in your portfolio
  • Assisting the online team by supplying fresh copy from shows in your portfolio
  • Update the press office
  • Increase brand recognition by creating partnerships in the online community and blogosphere

Requirements:

  • 3 year diploma/degree in public relations or communications
  • 3 – 5 years publicity/public relations experience
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Strong media relationships
  • Strong social network skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with social media and its uses
  • A sound understanding of the South African entertainment industry

Sports Desk: Editor

Location: eNCA Online Department in Johannesburg

Reporting to the Editor: eNCA Online, your key performance areas will include:

  • Draw up and implement an effective sports content strategy for eNCA.com
  • Set up formal systems to ensure that we make the best possible use of content and staff across the online and broadcast divisions
  • Ensure that sports content on eNCA.com is well promoted on eTV and eNCA television channels
  • Ensure that eNCA.com sports content is both comprehensive and up to date at all times
  • Devise and maintain a daily sports diary and a forward-panning diary for the year
  • Produce a minimum of five original sports stories per week (these may include a weekly column, analysis and oversee sports columns from freelancers and results data)
  • Contribute live blogs and content on social media on specific sports events where appropriate
  • Assign sports stories to online writers and encourage contributions from broadcast staff. Sub this copy where necessary.
  • Copy taste, edit and sub sports wire copy.
  • Oversee (in close collaboration with the development team and our chosen third-party supplier) the implementation of a match centre that combines pertinent sports statistics and news
  • Be the go-to contact for Duty Editors in need of assistance in placing sports content on the site
  • Work closely with the eNCA sports department to optimise interplay between TV and online channels

Requirements:

  • At least three years journalistic experience, ideally on a sports beat
  • Extensive knowledge of local soccer, rugby and cricket and international sports competitions that are popular in SA
  • Working knowledge of other sports is a major advantage
  • Ability to seek out original, exclusive/scoop and feature-style stories
  • Online experience is a major plus
  • Impeccable mastery of style and grammar
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to take direction from the website Editor or Deputy Editor on certain stories
  • Will need to work after hours and on public holidays when required

AUDIO ASSISTANT

Reporting to the Africa Editor, your key performance areas will include:

  • Assist the Audio Mixer
  • Microphone set ups in studio and on location
  • Equipment checking
  • Charge and manage batteries and department consumables
  • Collect information for administration such as the cue sheets
  • Do all paper work associated with audio department e.g. labels, cue sheets
  • Execute reasonable instructions from the HOD, or any designated representative
  • Work with crew
  • Trouble shooting when necessary
  • Ensure presenters and guest are ready to go on air
  • Ensure that no cables are showing
  • Brief and usher presenters and guests

 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of audio principles
  • Understanding of language of television, production and role players
  • Understanding of the broadcast and digital environment
  • Ability to take instruction
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Well-mannered and have good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Be computer literate
  • Good hearing
  • Able to work under pressure and make deadlines
  • Must be able to work without supervision and take responsibility
  • Work in a multi camera and outside broadcast environment

Financial Accountant

Location: Finance department in Johannesburg

Reporting to the Financial Manager your key performance areas include:

  • Complete the Management Accounts on a monthly basis
  • Complete the Statement of Financial Position Account reconciliations for the month-end files
  • Review and/or complete taxation returns
  • Review and prepare payments
  • Do analysis, maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Investigate and report back timeously to account queries
  • Assist in preparing of reports for management and board reporting packs
  • Assist in preparing schedules and reports for annual budget process
  • Preparation of audit file
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Perform ad-hoc functions which may be required within the Finance Department
  • Complete CaseWare drafted annual financial statements for the Group as required

Requirements:

  • B.Com Accounting degree
  • Successfully completed 3 year articles at an Audit Firm
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and related accounting standards
  • Strong excel skills
  • Strong Caseware skills (optional)
  • Knowledge of Syspro an added benefit
  • Good communication & strong interpersonal skills

  • Arrange and prepare for interviews
  • Brief cameraman and interviewee on topic beforehand
  • Check archives for specific identified news items
  • Check electronic media (wires), articles of interest in newspapers and study oversees media
  • Conduct preliminary telephonic and follow-up probing interviews
  • Direct editor to cut pictures according to storyline, editing pictures and notes
  • Identify stories through research, sourcing and networking
  • Screen functions, events for possible newsworthy items
  • Write final copy of news bulletin
  • Lay voice on tape and present on camera
  • Conduct live crossings

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years broadcasting experience
  • Good general knowledge, thorough understanding of South African politics and players involved as well as international current affairs
  • Working knowledge of quality of visuals and scripts
  • Ability to identify sources and network
  • A developed culture of reading and news sense
  • Ability to develop story ideas
  • A team player and work well with camera operators
  • Work to strict deadlines and display initiative
  • Good command of the English language
  • Good probing and presentation skills
