Nambitha Mpumlwana On Filling In Patrick Ndlovu’s Shoes In Yizo Yizo Back Then

Nambitha Mpumlwana On Filling In Patrick Ndlovu’s Shoes In Yizo Yizo Back Then. It’s not easy for an actor to play a role that one actor played before. It is even more difficult when the previous actor was iconic, so one can get where Nambitha Mpumlwana is coming from.

She is a renowned actress herself having starred on several dramas and films. Nambitha gained recognition when she joined the popular SABC1 soapie, “Generations” in 2011. There she played the role of Mawande Memela, a successful business woman and mother of two.

The award winning actress also acted in Justice For All, Interrogation Room, Shado’s and The Lab, among others. Mpumlwana has also appeared in several films such as Tsotsi, Red Dust as well as Country Of My Skull. She also had a role on 7de laan.

One of her iconic roles was when she starred in the series Yizo Yizo. There Nambitha played, the principal, Grace Letsatsi for two seasons. She took over the role of principal from Patrick Ndlovu, who played principal Mthembu. Although Nambitha was filling in the shoes of an iconic actor, she held her own.

Sadly the man she took over from passed away recently. Joining in the mourners Nambitha penned a special tribute to Baba Patrick. She acknowledges the lessons she learnt while taking over the principal role. Nambitha also considers it an honor having been a colleague and a friend to the late for years.

I was only a young’un when I was called to fill in the enormous shoes of the inimitable #PatrickNdlovu on #YizoYizo I knew I had much to learn! It was an honor getting to know him over the years as a colleague & friend. Thank you for the memories Sibali,” Nambitha said in her tribute.
