The Wife Fans React to Wiseman Mncube Taking Over As Mqhele. Taking over a role from another actor is always tricky. More so when the actor was a brilliant as Bonko Khoza, people will judge you based on the excellence they displayed.
For two season, Bonko played the lead role of Mqhele, Hlomu’s husband on The Wife Showmax series. Season 1 of the telenovela was centred around middle brother Mqhele and his marriage with journalist Hlomu (Mbalenhle Mavimbela), which took a turn for the worse. As much as he played a character everyone loved to hate, many were impressed by Bonko’s acting skills. He was nominated for DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice and SAFTA Awards for the role.
Sadly, even great things do come to an end, and Bonko won’t be returning to the show as Mqhele. The news caused a stir on social media, with many wondering who will take over the role. Wiseman Mncube, has been revealed as the one to fill Bonko’s shoes. The award winning actor is best known for his roles in Úzalo‘ and ‘eHostela‘, and is most definitely suited for the role.
Season three of The Wife starts production later this month and is inspired by Dube’s bestselling book “Naledi His Love”.
