10 Fun Facts About Sonia Booth. Forget about the cheesecake a bit, there is more to Sonia Booth than meets the eye. The former beauty queen has been in the industry for years, serving as an inspiration to young black women that it is possible. Learn more about her from the 10 facts below.

1. Sonia Booth’s modelling career began in 1998 and this led to her representing Southern Africa in the Mnet Face of Africa competition in 1999.

2. The beauty queen was crowned 2nd runner-up in the Miss SA 2001 beauty pageant won by Vanessa Carreira. In 2011 and 2012, Sonia made it back to the national pageant as an adjudicator.

3. In 2006, she obtained a BComm degree in Marketing and Business Management and used that knowledge to build up her entrepreneurial portfolio.

4. As a businesswoman, Sonia founded Booth Sports, a sports merchandise producer, as well as Bonneventia S, a footwear retailer in 2008.

5. She also is recognized as the brainchild behind The Booth Education & Sports Trust, a non-profit organization she and Matthew use to uplift the youth through literature, football skills development and mentoring.

6. Sonia was recognized for her work in 2011, bagging an award for the Best Innovation Award at the SAB Kickstart Awards. She was also a participant in the Making Moves television program which profiles businesses in South Africa.

7. Apart from the beauty industry and business, Sonia is also a published author with three books to her name. The first one, How To Reinvent Yourself And Stay Relevant was published in November 2014.

8. The month of May 2017 saw Sonia being introduced to talk radio as the host of Opinion Booth on CliffCentral.com

9. Sonia, is also a wife, married to retired soccer player Matthew Booth. The couple has two boys, Nathan and Noah. She recently made headlines after accusing Matthew of cheating her with one Bongani Mthombeni-Moller.

10. The multilingual Sonia can speak at least six languages. The languages include Russian, which she learnt over the 6 years she spent in Russia.
