10 Interesting Facts About Generations: The Legacy Star Monthati Masebe. At times it’s not easy for children of stars to break away from their parents’ shadows. But for Monthati Masebe, it has been one easy ride, because their talents speaks for them.

1. 27 year old Monthati Masebe is a multi-talented all rounder in the entertainment industry.

2. The musician, pianist and composer has a Bachelor of Music graduate at the University of Witswatersrand. Monthati is also studying towards a PhD in composition at Duke University, North Carolina, in the US.

3. They started their career at an early age, learning to play Alicia Keys’ Diary by ear when they were 10. Monthati held concerts in their bedroom where people would pay R10 to attend.

4. Now Monthati composes music for operas, orchestras and films. With hundreds of
thousands of instruments in the African continent, they cement their sound around amplifying our underrepresented art forms and working with digital music tech to create virtual exhibition
spaces.

5. They are a board member of the Indigenous African Music Project run by Southern African Music Rights Organization. Monthathi was also one of 10 international composers to receive a fellowship with the Goethe-Institut and the Ensemble Recherche, a German classical music ensemble of nine soloists.

6. Their music has been performed by music ensembles in Boston, Sweden, Tokyo, Berlin
and Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

7. Monthati is also the founder of Konka Kontinent, an initiative which aims to creating cross border relations between the arts and culture in Africa.

8. One of their many talents is being an actor. Monthati made their acting debut on Generations: The Legacy in 2022. They play Zikhona, a quite interesting character.

9. She is the daughter of legendary actress Florence Masebe. How cool is it that her mother was also an actress on Generations back then.

10. Monthati has recently been honored as a Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans Inductee.
