He doesn’t want his mom to know about us.

I am 19 and my boy friend is 18. We are in a relationship for one year and five months. we are open to each other but he doesn’t want his mom to know about us, when she ask him anything about me he denied and pretend like he doesn’t have any communication with me. Is he hiding something from me or he is just not ready?
