5FM powers up for first ever Eastern Cape Takeover Weekend

After the hugely successful Cape Town Takeover Weekend in March, 5FM is gearing up for its next big event, the Eastern Cape Takeover Weekend, which takes place in Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown and East London from 25 to 27 May 2012.

Fresh and Euphonik2

It’s the first time 5FM is hosting a Takeover Weekend in the area and some of the station’s biggest names will be in the Eastern Cape for a jam-packed weekend of hot parties, live show broadcasts and lending a helping hand as part of the station’s CSI initiative Youngblood5. Listeners can look forward to rubbing shoulders with popular 5FM personalities Roger Goode, DJ Euphonik, DJ C-Live, DJ Milkshake, Rob Vember, Rob Forbes, Poppy Ntshongwana, Catherine Grenfell, Elma Smit and Nicole da Silva on the three-day tour.

Here’s what’s going down over the course of the Takeover Weekend:
The Eastern Cape Takeover Weekend kicks off in PE on Friday 25 May with a live broadcast of The Roger Goode Show from Balizza in Humewood, featuring 5FM DJs Roger Goode, Rob Vember, Catherine Grenfell and Poppy Ntshongwana. Doors open at 7pm and entrance is free before 9pm, R50 after that. The next day, Saturday 26 May, sees the 5FM busses pulling into East London for a rocking party at Numbers with DJs C-Live, Rob Forbes, Elma Smit and Nicole da Silva. Doors open at 9pm and entrance costs R50. Last but by no means least, Euphonik’s popular My House will be broadcasting live from Prime in Grahamstown on Sunday night 27 May. The show will start at 7pm and features house music sets by DJs Euphonik and Milkshake. Entrance to the live broadcast show is R20.

At each destination, the 5FM team will be collecting blankets as part of the station’s CSI campaign Youngblood5, all of which will be donated to the event’s official CSI partner, CORA (Caring for Orphans in Rural Areas) who provide a helping hand to orphans throughout the Eastern Cape area.
