Refilwe Modiselle Makes History With Her First International Award As An Actress. This is one personality who has broken many boundaries. Refilwe Modiselle is the first South African professional model with albinism.

In December 2019, the media personality and model announced that she bagged a role in an international film, White Gold. For the same film, Refilwe bagged a Best Actress Award at The African Film Festival in Dallas Texas.

This is another history in the making for Refilwe who is now the first person with albinism in a lead role to receive an international award. “My first international award as an actress & the first time in the history of beings, where a person with albinism in a lead role takes an award of this magnitude home,” Refilwe gushed.

White Gold was nominated for four awards and they walked away with two. To add on to Refilwes win, the film has taken Best Short Narrative award again as well. The other nominations were Best Director to Luke Bradford and Best Young talent to Owethu Zulu.

Refilwe who is a very spiritual person, also gave credit to her God, on being there for her through it all. “My God is no fool… He knows how this journey has been for me personally….. I’m so grateful. Global love like this is planting a seed, for the change that is needed in the industry & the world at large on various levels.”
